Two barracks in Scotland and England will be used to house as many as 900 migrants on a temporary basis

The Home Office confirmed on Monday that two barracks in Scotland and England will be used to house as many as 900 migrants on a temporary basis.

Sir Keir Starmer has vowed to get asylum hotels closed “as quickly as possible” - and says he is “bearing down on this every day of the week”.

The plans will see men housed at Cameron Barracks in Inverness and Crowborough Training Camp in East Sussex.

Downing Street hinted that moving asylum seekers into military barracks will be worth it, because it will help quell public discontent following a summer of protests outside migrant hotels.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman rejected suggestions the Government had not moved swiftly enough to grasp the migrant crisis.

But Reform UK's Danny Kruger yesterday told GB News migrants should not be housed on military bases - and must instead be "swiftly deported".

This poll is now closed. See the full results below and continue to have your say in the comments.

In the exclusive poll for GB News membership readers, an overwhelming majority (88 per cent) of the 2,524 voters thought moving asylum seekers will not ease tensions, while just 12 per cent thought it will.
