P&O Cruises has cancelled a 35-night Caribbean voyage on Ventura that was scheduled to depart on January 4, 2027, citing "operational reasons".

The cancellation of this much-anticipated long-haul cruise has left many passengers devastated.

This is not the first disruption to P&O's schedule, as it follows the cancellation of a 14-night trip on sister ship Iona planned for August 30, 2026.

Earlier incidents also saw two autumn sailings aboard Iona in October 2025 discontinued for unexpected retrofitting, which sparked customer outrage.

Passengers affected by previous cancellations were offered full refunds and additional onboard credit to encourage rebooking, but many felt the compensation was inadequate.

In a communication to those affected by the latest Ventura cancellation, P&O stated: "Due to operational reasons, we're sorry to inform you that your cruise, departing 4 January 2027, is no longer going ahead."

The cruise line acknowledged the disappointment, adding: "We understand this news is disappointing and would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause."

P&O has automatically transferred bookings to an alternative sailing, telling customers: "To ensure you don't miss out on a fantastic holiday experience, we have automatically moved your booking to a different sailing, G701, on board Iona."

The news has not been well-received, with disgruntled travellers taking to Facebook to express their dismay and disappointment over the sudden itinerary change.

Many passengers have lamented the loss of their eagerly anticipated journey.

A representative for P&O Cruises told the Daily Echo: "On occasion, it is necessary to change an itinerary from the one previously published and we are very sorry that Ventura's 35-night Caribbean itinerary departing January 04 2027, has been cancelled."

The spokesperson added that affected guests would be offered alternatives.

They said: "Where possible, we are pleased to offer affected guests to transfer to Iona's similar Caribbean sailing across the same dates."

P&O has also announced plans for new sailings to replace the cancelled voyage: "Ventura will now offer three new itineraries, which go on sale on June 4, 2025."

These new itineraries will be available for booking in just two weeks' time.
