Pro-Palestine protests continue across the UK as Israel continues with its bombardment of Gaza

Students at Oxford University have been told to sign a radical pro-Palestinian manifesto as war in Gaza rages on.

Oxford Action for Palestine is insisting students who want to join their encampment in the centre of the city agree with the radical manifesto which effectively ensures the collapse of Israel as a country.

A number of protest hubs have sprung up across the UK as protests against events in Gaza continue to grip the West.

Pro-Palestine protesters in the UK continue to put pressure on universities and colleges to pull all investments in Israel or with Israeli links.

They are also pushing for an increase in the number of bursaries handed out to Palestinian students wanting to study in the UK.

However, activists have also been accused of pushing for the dismantling of Israel.

Students wanting to pitch a tent in front of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History were told they must be “committed to upholding the Thawabit”, a set of demands laid down by the Palestinian Liberation Organisation in the 1970s.

The demands go beyond the two-state solution advocated by the G7, the European Union, US and China.

It pushes for the right of return for around six million Palestinian refugees to the homes they or their ancestors owned in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza before 1948.

The Thawabit also calls for Jerusalem to be recognised as the “capital of Palestine”, the right to self-determination and “the right of colonised people to resist against occupation”.

Protests continue across the UK as war continues to engulf Gaza.

The death toll in Gaza reached 34,789 yesterday, the Strip’s Hamas-run Health Ministry has said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushed for troops to enter Gaza after Hamas killed 1,200 people and kidnapped more than 200 others during last year’s October 7 attack.

Hamas' latest ceasefire offer was rejected by Israel as the terms were “far from” its “obligatory demands”.

Israel also confirmed its intention to push ahead with its invasion of Rafah “in order to apply military pressure to Hamas” and to free hostages.

Leaders across the West have urged Netanyahu not to push ahead with his invasion of Rafah.

John Kirby, the White House’s national security spokesman, said: “We’ve made clear our views about operations in Rafah that could potentially put more than a million innocent people at greater risk.”
