Broadcaster and journalist Gayle King had to arrive a day late as a result of the stringent policy, forcing her to wait to join the celebrations for her grandson, Luca.

Oprah Winfrey left Gayle King sitting out of a party for her own grandson as a result of a strict Covid policy enforced by the talk show host.

The 67-year-old required guests to be triple jabbed, tested and quarantined ahead of attending the celebration.

Broadcaster and journalist Gayle King had to arrive a day late as a result of the stringent policy, forcing her to wait to join the celebrations for her grandson, Luca.

Writing on Instagram ahead of the celebration, King said "followed all the protocols...test results in! So [I'm] cleared to join the group… so happy!"

The media mogul Winfrey admitted she's so "serious" about the requirements that her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, has dubbed it "The Policy."

Oprah Winfrey said: "This was release day for our bubble and we knew we had to throw a welcome celebration for Baby Luca, who none of us had met yet!

We missed his grandma Gayle King but she'll join us once she completes the policy! Thank you to Bon Fortune Style and Ana's Balloon Creationsfor helping bring the fun to Baby Luca’s first time at my house. Have a happy and safe holiday, everyone," the 67-year-old added.

Winfrey made no apology for the strict restrictions in place, as cases continue to soar across the United States.

Oprah Winfrey and friends welcomed Gayle King and her grandson by singing 'Circle of Life' from The Lion King.

The talk show host's home was decked out with decorations for the celebrations, with balloons spelling out "Welcome Baby Luca."
