NHS doctor who 'glorified Hamas attack' wears 7 necklace at medical tribunal appearing to 'celebrate' massacre

A junior NHS medic, who is said to have glorified the October 7 attacks, displayed a gold chain bearing the number seven whilst attending her medical tribunal hearing.
The jewellery worn by Dr Rahmeh Aladwan, who is training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, had previously featured on her social media alongside the description "celebratory jewellery".
The Manchester hearing before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service concerns accusations that the doctor promoted Hamas and posted antisemitic content online.
In photographs shared online, the seven-charm necklace appeared alongside another chain depicting a Palestinian map.
The British-Palestinian medic has previously stated she "would never" condemn the Hamas attacks of October 7.
Two days prior to the tribunal, police arrested the 31-year-old doctor at a South Gloucestershire address on charges relating to racial hatred and malicious communications.
Officers informed her during the arrest that she had posted content on October 7 demonstrating support for Hamas's assault on Israel.
A police officer said: "An attack which involved murder, rape and kidnap of Israeli citizens, all of which may be considered grossly offensive in character."

| XDuring the arrest captured on video, Dr Aladwan told officers: "You are doing this for the Israeli Jewish lobby."
She also faces allegations of delivering a speech at a Foreign Office protest in July, calling for Israel's elimination.
September's tribunal concluded without imposing restrictions on Dr Aladwan's medical registration, and the panel determined that the complaints were insufficient to demonstrate potential patient risk.
The decision prompted Health Secretary Wes Streeting to declare he had "no confidence in our regulation system".

A tribunal decision permitted Dr Rahmeh Aladwan to continue working despite allegations | XHe said: "I fail to see how medics using such language with impunity doesn't undermine confidence in the medical profession."
The General Medical Council subsequently initiated a fresh referral, with a spokesman explaining: "The GMC will make a referral where it believes an interim order is necessary to protect the public or public confidence in doctors during an investigation."
Dr Aladwan's legal representative, Kevin Saunders, argued the proceedings constituted an "affront to the rule of law" and represented a "brazen attempt to keep relitigating this matter" until achieving the desired outcome.
He criticised the Health Secretary's comments as undermining an independent tribunal's determination.
Dr Aladwan emerged from the Manchester tribunal to applause from dozens of flag-waving supporters who had gathered outside | XThe GMC's counsel, Emma Gilsenan, rejected claims of external influence, stating the referral was "necessary and proportionate" based on social media posts from late September to early October that displayed "a continuation and doubling down of concerning conduct".
She noted the content appeared to adopt an "increasing racist and anti-Semitic flavour".
Tribunal chair Lee Davies dismissed the abuse of process claim and ruled proceedings should continue, though the hearing was adjourned pending further legal arguments.
