A National Lottery winner has revealed the meticulous method she devised to pick her winning numbers and scoop a jackpot prize.

The woman from West Dunbartonshire won the National Lottery’s Set For Life game, securing £10,000 a month for a year after matching five numbers in the draw last year.

While choosing to keep her identity secret, the homemaker has laid out how her ingenious technique helped her win in just a matter of months.

The lucky winner began to use a spreadsheet to generate random numbers for her in March 2025.

In as little as four months, her method paid off, and her numbers guaranteed her the incredible monthly sum.

In total, she won a whopping £120,000.

“It feels really epic but also unbelievable and will help with future plans to move to our dream area,” the overjoyed homemaker said.

She has already booked a dream holiday to the US with her winnings.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, sent his: “Huge congratulations to this lucky winner."

“We love hearing about the exciting adventures our winners embark on with their prize money, and we hope she has a wonderful time in North America."

National Lottery players raise around £32million each week for good causes, with more than £52billion raised to date.

This funding supports projects in every postcode across the UK, including community groups, arts and sports initiatives and the preservation of iconic landmarks.

While the lucky winner's meticulous technique may have helped her scoop the winnings, a Norwich grandfather won a similar prize with a much simpler method.

The father of two won the Set For Life game in just his third attempt at picking his own numbers.

He matched five numbers to claim his prize, describing the experience as "surreal".

Rather than relying on a Lucky Dip selection, he opted to pick his own random combination of numbers for the ticket, which he bought in-store.

The strategy paid off remarkably quickly, with the win coming on just his third attempt using self-selected numbers.

He said: "I woke up to check the ticket the day after I won, just to double check I wasn't dreaming."

The windfall will enable him to scale back his working commitments and dedicate more time to his loved ones.

Treating his grandchild is also high on his list of priorities.
