The National Lottery confirmed it had received a claim for the life-changing prize today

A lucky National Lottery player has claimed a £13million prize two weeks after matching the winning numbers.

The fortunate ticket holder finally came forward to claim the life-changing money today after playing in the Lotto "Must Be Won" draw on January 14.

The player successfully matching all six main numbers - 2, 5, 22, 35, 44 and 54 - to win the £13,310,618 prize.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, which operates The National Lottery, said: “Huge congratulations to our Lotto jackpot winner from January 14.

"We’re thrilled to be supporting them as they start their life‑changing journey."

The win caps a huge month for National Lottery players, with January alone having created 15 new millionaires and paid out more than £31million in top prizes.

That total includes the £13.3million jackpot from January 14 and £5.1million on January 21 — plus 13 separate £1million wins.

Mr Carter added: "It really has been an incredible January for Lotto players: two massive jackpots won, 13 Match 5+Bonus Ball prizes landed, 15 new millionaires and more than £31million paid out. And we’re not done yet.

"Tomorrow’s £7million Lotto jackpot is the final draw of the month, so don’t forget to grab a ticket - it would be an amazing way to round off what has already been a phenomenal month of Lotto wins.”

The National Lottery was flooded with complaints earlier this week after customers found themselves locked out of its app and website.

Both the lottery's iOS and Android apps, as well as its website, went down last weekend as part of a scheduled 24-hour maintenance period, which was supposed to conclude by the end of Sunday, January 25.

But players still faced issues entering draws and checking their winnings on Monday morning.

A notice on the app read: "Sorry, our app is unable to load for you.

"This could be due to planned maintenance or you being blocked by your internet provider."

One player congratulated the National Lottery on "the worst upgrade".

The new-look website and app were back online by Monday afternoon.

A spokesman for Allwyn said: "These much-needed digital upgrades mark another milestone in our transformation to make The National Lottery more player-focused, and this is just the beginning of an exciting year for Allwyn and The National Lottery.”
