One lucky player could become the UK's biggest ever lottery winner if they scoop the top prize in Tuesday's record EuroMillions draw.

The prize pot had reached a massive £185million in time for Friday's draw but nobody matched the winning numbers.

Friday's National Lottery EuroMillions winning numbers were 4, 7, 14, 33, 36, with lucky stars 1 and 5.

Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn who run The National Lottery, said: "We are now on the verge of creating the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen, as the EuroMillions jackpot will be an estimated £199million this Tuesday."

"If a single UK ticket-holder wins the lot, they'll instantly become richer than the likes of Dua Lipa and Harry Kane whilst landing at the number one spot of The National Lottery's biggest wins," he added.

Carter urged players to "get your tickets early to ensure you'll be in with a chance of a massive life-changing win".

Recent success stories for British players include two winners who bagged significant EuroMillions jackpots earlier this year.

Two British people secured the £83million jackpot in January, followed by another winner claiming the £65 million prize in February.

Even though nobody won Friday's top prize, thousands of players still claimed smaller rewards.

Eighteen ticket holders matched all five numbers but no lucky stars, earning £11,422.70 each, while 59 people matched four balls and two lucky stars for £1,085.40.

Just over 1,300 people matched four numbers and one star, receiving £89.80.

Despite the allure of such enormous wealth, winning large lottery sums can bring unexpected challenges. Studies in the US have found that lottery winners are more likely to declare bankruptcy within three to five years compared to the average citizen.

The pressure of sudden wealth may also cause winners to spiral into depression and lead to alcohol and drug abuse.

While many people may think that winning such a large sum of money would be a blessing, research suggests it can also prove to be a curse for some recipients.
