Officers arrested one woman at the scene on suspicion of assault and assaulting a police officer

A wheelchair user was forcibly restrained by security staff at a Morrisons after she appeared to hurl products at shoppers and attacked customers on Tuesday evening in Manchester.

Video footage captured the woman screaming "you stupid b****" whilst throwing items over self-checkout barriers as shocked customers looked on.


The situation escalated when she used her leg to strike a younger female shopper who was carrying a Happy Birthday balloon.

Security personnel intervened after the alleged assault, bringing the woman to the floor.

The dramatic confrontation, which occurred at Irwell Place in Eccles, left witnesses stunned, with one onlooker heard shouting "that's not ok" during the melee.

The woman continued her aggressive behaviour, shouting "don't you do that to me ever" before appearing to strike another customer.

A male shopper then delivered a light kick to the woman whilst she remained on the floor, though his connection to the incident remains unclear.

The situation deteriorated further as she grappled with her initial opponent.

A witness who filmed the confrontation told Manchester Evening News: "To be honest, I am not too sure what set her off. She just started screaming and throwing things."

The witness added: "Then she got out of her chair and attacked a poor woman who only came in for a balloon."

Another observer claimed the woman began "swinging" at an officer when police arrived at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police responded to the disturbance at approximately 6.15pm following reports of two women fighting at the store.
