An elderly dog abandoned on the streets of Birmingham just days before Christmas last year is now “happy and healthy” after being rehomed with a new family.
Ten-year-old Molly-Moo, a German Shepherd cross mastiff, was found wandering the streets alone and emaciated last December.
The debilitated pooch was found "incredibly emaciated" when she was found by the West Midlands Police, who took her to the RSPCA.
An inspector from the animal rights group said Molly-Moo's bones were "protruding" and she "had a bad, untreated skin condition".
She was put on a special diet by vets to help her gain weight and treat her skin.
Molly was later moved to a new home in Leicester, with a loving family left 'smitten' by an image they had seen online.
John Bebbington, wife Joanne and 15-year-old stepson Harry welcomed the dog, but faced challenges in allowing her to settle into her new environment.
Mr Bebbington, a fabricator welder, said: "There was a lot of anxiety initially, she'd cry and manically look everywhere when we were out."
He says Molly-Moo is now a "totally different dog" who is "very happy, sweet-natured and well-behaved.
I've definitely found a best friend for life and she has, too."
