Foreigners accounted for one-in-seven sexual offences

Sex crimes by foreign nationals have skyrocketed by 62 per cent in just four years, new research has revealed.

Foreign nationals account for one-in-seven of sexual offence convictions last year, including rapes, according to new data from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) data, drawn from the Police National Computer (PNC).

The rate of increase between 2021 and 2024 is significantly higher than for British nationals, whose sexual offence convictions rose by 39.3 per cent over the same period.

Other offences portray similar images, with the number of convictions for theft by foreign nationals rising by 77.9 per cent since 2021, against 55.8 per cent for Britons.

Robbery convictions are up by 18.9 per cent for foreign nationals against only 2.8 per cent for Britons.

The nationalities with the highest amount of convictions for sexual offences were Indians, Romanians, Poles, Pakistanis and Afghans.

The figures, obtained by the think tank Centre for Migration Control, follow record highs in net migration of up to 906,000 in 2023 and the surge in small boat migrants.

Around 28,000 migrants have reached the UK in small boats so far this year, the highest number at this point in any year since the first arrivals in 2018.

Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: "This is yet more concerning data that shows mass, uncontrolled migration is fuelling serious crime.

"The Government needs to wake up, publish the full data and act to keep the public safe."

Mr Jenrick has pushed forward legislation requiring the Government to publish an annual report detailing the nationality, visa, and asylum status of every offender convicted in English and Welsh courts over the last year.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said: "This country has a serious and growing crime problem with its own people, which makes importing foreign-born criminals all the more stupid.

"Foreign sex offenders are becoming one of the most important political issues in Britain. These figures will infuriate the public."

Mr Farage laid out his deportation plans today, as he vowed to deport 600,000 illegal migrants.

Speaking at a press conference, the Reform UK leader said: "The mood in the country around this issue is a mix between total despair and rising anger.

"And I would say this, that without action, without somehow the contract between the Government and the people being renewed, without some trust coming back, then I fear deeply that that anger will grow.

"In fact, I think there is now, as a result of this, a genuine threat to public order."

Research director of the Centre for Migration Control, Robert Bates, called for "urgent" action.

He said: "It is unconscionable for the Government to continue with business-as-usual when this data shows that action, such as the introduction of a red list, is now urgently needed."
