Scottish city named as most common asylum seeker destination after THOUSANDS flock to culture hub in 2025

The figures confirmed a jump of 13 per cent on small boat arrivals when compared with the numbers from 2024.

But, joining the People's Channel, independent statistician Jamie Jenkins pinpointed the most common places where asylum seekers have settled.

Speaking to GB News star Martin Daubney about the latest figures, he said: "So Glasgow actually comes out on top.

"The politicians in London are making the decisions, but they're putting people up in Glasgow. That's the most common place for people to seek asylum."

The Scottish city, which was crowned European Capital of Culture in 1990, was followed by Birmingham and Liverpool in second and third place with people being "dispersed far away from the politicians who are failing us".

Mr Jenkins added: "Things need to change, Martin, because, one thing that we didn't talk about here is but this is a huge cost of this, so we've got to borrow money to pay for all of this.

"With the figures going up with small boats in 2026 so far, the weather is starting to turn.

"We're going to see the record numbers, I would imagine again this year under Keir Starmer if they don't get a grip on this Martin.

"They said they were going to smash the gangs. When was the last time you hear Keir Starmer say the words 'smash the gangs'? They've probably given up."

As of June 2025, there are up to 3,844 asylum seekers in Glasgow, with the hub hosting almost two-thirds of all supported asylum seekers in Scotland.

Its number of asylum seekers is almost 40 per cent more higher than those in Birmingham.

Just yesterday, GB News exclusively revealed almost 600 small boat migrants crossed the English Channel on Wednesday, which is the biggest one-day surge this year.

Provisional figures revealed 590 migrants were taken to the Kent port of Ramsgate by Border Force vessels and lifeboats throughout the day.

The People's Channel also revealed more than 4,500 migrants are in the make-shift camps near Calais and Dunkirk, eyeing up the illegal crossing.

Responding to the statistics yesterday, Reform MP Lee Anderson slammed Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer over the single-day surge, adding: "It's absolute nonsense. Starmer said he would smash the gangs.

"It gets worse and worse and that spineless lot over there, those cowards over there haven't got the backbone or the political will to sort this out. It can be sorted out in a matter of weeks."

Nevertheless, the Home Office has revealed almost 60,000 undocumented migrants and foreign criminals have been deported from Britain since Labour moved into Whitehall.

Additionally, shown by the figures released today, the number of asylum seekers being housed temporarily in British hotels has plummeted to its lowest level for 18 months.

There were 30,657 people staying in hotels while awaiting a decision on asylum claims at the end of December.

Earlier, Home Office minister Alex Norris told GB News they are "restoring order and control".

A Home Office spokesman told GB News: "The statistics show real progress as we restore order and control to our borders.

"We've removed nearly 60,000 illegal migrants. Numbers in asylum hotels are down. Law enforcement action against people smugglers is at record levels and we are bearing down on the asylum backlog."
