The Conservative commentator refuted claims that Britain had been openly hostile to Meghan Markle

GB News regular Calvin Robinson has accused Meghan Markle of spitting in the faces of the British public after claiming she was welcomed with open arms.

Meghan and Prince Harry are in the UK to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The pair avoided cameras during the Trooping of the Colour, with only working royals being allowed on the balcony during the flypast.

They were then sat away from William and Kate during the Service of Thanksgiving and snubbed the afterparty.

A royal expert told GB News the pair were being unfairly treated, and urged the Queen to step in to resolve the issue.

But Calvin said Meghan had been welcomed into the country and it was her attitude that led to problems.

He told Nana Akua: "There wasn't an issue of unfairness. I celebrated the wedding, we had a party, there was jubilation, it was great.

"It was a case of she didn't live up to the expectations because she started lecturing the British public and started disrupting the British institution.

"So we can't say we weren't prepared welcome her, we did with open arms and she spat in our faces."

The royal family has wished the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s daughter Lilibet a happy birthday as she turns one.

Harry and Meghan’s second child is spending her first birthday in the UK as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations continue.

Lilibet, born at 11.40am on Friday June 4 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, was named in honour of the Queen.

The royal family Twitter account posted a balloon emoji and the message: “Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, also posted birthday messages on Twitter.
