Some fans backed Mr Perry’s comments, with one saying: “Your title is a Princess, but you’re Truly a Queen! Happy birthday beautiful.”
But others hit back at the Princess terminlogy, pointing out that Meghan’s title was Duchess.
One person replied: ““No, sadly her titles are Duchess/Baroness/Countess.”
While another wrote: “Not Princess Meghan no matter how hard you try.”
A third person added: “She’s no Princess and he will never be King.”
Meghan received olive branch messages from several members of the Royal Family as she celebrated her birthday last week.
Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge shared a brief message to wish the Duchess of Sussex a happy birthday last Thursday.
They were joined by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in extending an olive branch to Meghan.
Accompanied by a photograph of the former Suits actor sporting a beaming smile, Kate and William's tweet read: "Wishing a happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!"
Clarence House shared the same sentiment with a picture of Meghan taken during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
