A violent mob of up to 30 youths have sparked chaos in a popular seaside town after they attempted to storm an Italian restaurant.
The group descended on Sardinia restaurant in Broadstairs on Thursday evening while pursuing another young person who had fled inside for safety.
Shocking footage of the attack, which circulated on social media, showed diners left terrified as the gang tried to force their way through the doors of the family restaurant.
Staff members were forced to barricade the entrance to protect the youth who had sought refuge inside, as well as their customers.
However, the confrontation quickly escalated as attackers hurled objects at staff members defending the entrance.
A bare-chested boy also hurled a chair at the restaurant, resulting in the window shattering into pieces.
Video footage showed a member of staff restraining his colleague before grabbing a chair to defend himself.
In the footage, men could be heard shouting: "Get him bro, get him."

Two female voices were also heard in the video urging the attackers to carry on.
Restaurant manager Tony later revealed damages could reach £2,000.
He told The Sun: "They were trying to get to this boy who they already attacked to beat him again.
"We let him inside and shut the doors, but they attacked the staff and threw chairs."

The restaurant owner also expressed frustration that none of the attackers' parents had contacted the restaurant.
He added: "The funny thing is, we never received a phone call from their parents to say sorry, is there anything we need or if we're okay.
"This is the most disappointing thing, it's not the material losses."
The violence at Sardinia was part of wider disorder across Broadstairs that evening.
Footage of a separate brawl was shared from the beach
Reports emerged of underage drinking, street fights and youths throwing bottles at beach huts.
Shop staff along the seafront reported thefts, whilst gangs also caused disruption at the town's railway station.
Another business had its window smashed during the disturbances.
Kent Police responded by implementing a dispersal order across much of Broadstairs town centre following the widespread disorder.
Kent Police rushed to the scene
Three arrests were made - two boys aged 16 and 17, and a 15-year-old girl, all from Thanet, on suspicion of public order offences, assault and criminal damage.
All three have been released on bail whilst investigations continue.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers are currently investigating these incidents, and a dispersal order has been implemented due to ongoing concerns relating to issues caused by a small minority of young people in some public areas including the town centre and beaches."
The order grants officers additional powers to stop and search individuals and move people on from the area.
