Ukrainian national Roman Lavrynovych has been charged

A man has been charged with a series of arson attacks linked to the Prime Minister.

Roman Lavrynovych of Sydenham, a Ukrainian national, has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.


The charges, which were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, relate to a vehicle fire on May 8, a fire at the entrance of a property in N7 on May 11 and a fire at a residential address in NW5 in the early hours of May 12.

Lavrynovych, 21, was arrested in the early hours of May 13 and has remained in custody after warrants of further detention were obtained.

Head of the Crown Prosecution Service Counter Terrorism Division Bethan David said: "Following a review of the evidence provided by the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command, we have authorised criminal charges against a 21-year-old man after three fires in north London.

"Roman Lavrynovych has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life or being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, contrary to section 1(2) and (3) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

"These charges relate to two fires at residential addresses in Islington on Sunday, May 11, 2025, and in Kentish Town on Monday, May 12, 2025, as well as a car fire in Kentish Town on Thursday, May 8 2025.

"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and that he has the right to a fair trial."
