His Eminence told Jacob Rees-Mogg that God 'created male and female'

Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller has claimed Jesus would go to prison due to his views on man and woman.

Speaking on GB News, His Eminence told Jacob Rees-Mogg that God “created male and female” as he spoke on the emergence of transsexuality.

It comes as Pope Francis confirmed transgender people can be baptised in the Catholic Church as long as doing so does not cause scandal or “confusion”.

The move came about as the Pope bids to make the Church more welcoming to LGBT people.

Cardinal Müller said he is concerned about what effect transsexuality could have on the family.

“I believe that today, Jesus would not be condemned only because he is a Messiah”, he said.

“He would in Canada or the United States or European countries go to prison because he spoke out the truth about the marriage between a man and a woman.”

He added that the Church needs to have “respectful dialogue” on the matter to avert the threat of “losing our time” in “superflous” challenges.

The Pope told one trans person in July that “even if we are sinners, he (God) draws near to help us”.

Lauding the decision made by the Church in November, American Jesuit Preist Father James Martin posted on X, formerly Twitter: "This is an important step forward in the Church seeing transgender people not only as people (in a Church where some say they don't really exist) but as Catholics."

The Catholic clergy update follows a suggestion by the Pope in October that same-sex couples should receive a blessing from the priest, saying such a request should be treated with “pastoral charity”.

He did add that the Church still considered same-sex relationships “objectively sinful” and would not recognise same-sex marriage.

His Eminence told GB News that Jesus “contradicts the ideological”.

“I think there’s pastoral concern for the salvation of every person”, he said.

“This is the main task of all the priests, and also of the Roman Pontiff.

“Christ does not impose any conditions, but rather gives all people, rich and poor, writers and sinners, the chance of conversion and of a new beginning.

“But Christ also contradicts the ideological.”
