A woman who survived a brutal machete attack in Jerusalem has told GB News her “heart’s broken again” after learning one of her attackers has been freed in the peace deal.

Her assailant, Palestinian Iyad Hassan Hussein Fatafta, is among those released as part of Donald Trump’s hostage deal.

Tal Hartuv was stabbed 18 times during a terror attack in 2010 that also claimed her friend’s life.

Speaking to Patrick Christys, Ms Hartuv described the news as “bittersweet”.

"There isn’t an Israeli who isn’t overjoyed to see the hostages home,” she said. “But to know my attacker is now a free man, that’s heartbreaking.”

Ms Hartuv accused Western Governments of “moral abandonment”, saying their stance had “empowered Hamas”.

“When Keir Starmer recognised the state of Palestine, Hamas thanked him,” she said.

“They felt emboldened. The British Government couldn’t even stand with Israel for more than a few days.”

She also blasted the scenes at the Labour Party conference, describing it as a “Free Palestine fest”.

Her comments came after footage emerged of released Palestinian prisoners vowing to attack Israel again.

“I understand Arabic,” she said. “They’re saying: ‘Me and my son will kill Jews again.’ This is a death cult.”

Ms Hartuv said she felt Israel had been “squeezed into a corner” by the international community and left to fight alone.

“Being Jewish is exhausting,” she told GB News. “My heart’s broken again.”

At the summit, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the US signed a declaration acting as guarantors of a ceasefire deal aimed at ending two years of conflict that have left Gaza in ruins.

Monday’s exchange of hostages and prisoners marked the completion of the deal’s first phase, following a ceasefire that began on Friday and a surge of humanitarian aid entering Gaza over the weekend.

Under the agreement, around 1,700 Palestinian detainees held by Israel without charge were released.

Israel also released around 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences, with roughly 100 sent to the occupied West Bank.

The remainder were either deported or returned to East Jerusalem.
