The former Labour Party leader said "greed, profits and inequality continue to grow" despite the crisis

Jeremy Corbyn has called for a “radical economic alternative” to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

Mr Corbyn, who has been heavily critical of the current Government and outgoing prime Minister Boris Johnson, has taken now called for "immediate action" to tackle the ongoing crisis.


Speaking out on the cost-of-living crisis, the former Labour Party leader has said that the plan would include nationalising rail, energy and Royal Mail.

He wrote on Twitter: “This is a cost-of-living crisis where greed, profits and inequality continue to grow.

“There are more billionaires and more people forced into using food banks than at any other point in history.

“This scandal demands immediate action.

“The way forward has to be a radical economic alternative, including public ownership of rail, energy, water and the Royal Mail.

“We must recognise that most workers have seen cuts in wages over the past decade, whilst bosses take home record pay and bonuses.”

“Now is the time for a bold alternative to the poverty, misery and desperation faced by millions of families in our communities and workplaces.”

His comments come just hours before members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) will walk out on Wednesday, crippling rail services across the country.

The Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) has also announced a strike by its members at Avanti West Coast on the same day.
