Nigel Farage called for the banning of the Muslim Brotherhood

The Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations (FEMYSO) has been accused of being a key player in the launch of Islamist organisation Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in the UK.

The French Ministry of Interior (FMI) previously raised concerns in a report about FEMYSO, saying it "serves as a training structure for high-potential leaders within the MB movement, in which French activists are very active".

According to the report, FEMYSO maintains close operational ties with the European Council for Fatwa and Research, the European Institute of Human Sciences, and other institutions identified as part of the MB's ideological ecosystem.

These ties ensure the creation of a coherent network of influence throughout Europe.

FEYMSO is very active within Brussels-based platforms and has positioned itself as a legitimate representative of Muslim youth at the EU level.

This gives the group influence over debates on discrimination, integration, and Islamophobia, while allowing it to shape policy recommendations aligned with the MB's worldview.

The FMI described FEMYSO as "a threat to national cohesion", saying it aimed to destabilise the country through "re-Islamisation".

FEMYSO denounced the report, describing it as an "attack on Muslim civil society".

Conservative MP Nick Timothy voiced concerns about FEMYSO, calling for it to be closed down in a letter to the new Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood.

Mr Timothy told GB News: "We need the Government to act very quickly with this organisation.

"We know the Muslim Brotherhood runs front organisations and infiltrates Government and other social organisations.

"The report from the French Government is very clear - which is why we need our own ministers to act."

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said he would proscribe the MB as a terrorist organisation at the Reform conference over the weekend.

He told the conference: "We will stop dangerous organisations with links to terrorism operating in our country, quite why we have been so gutless about this, both Conservative and Labour, I do not know.

"All across the Middle East, countries have banned and proscribed the Muslim Brotherhood as a dangerous organisation. We will do the very same."

There have been previous attempts to ban the MB with the coalition Government in 2014, commissioning a review of the group.

Following its inquiry into the Government's policy towards "political Islam", the Foreign Affairs Committee concluded that political Islamists were a "firewall" against violent extremism and should be engaged with.

The Foreign Office agreed with the inquiry, saying that the vast majority of political Islamists were not involved in violence, but rather were the victims of violence themselves.

Mr Farage and Mr Timothy have put the banning of the MB back on the agenda.

Part of the Tory MP's letter read: "A thorough review of the organisation's activities, funding sources, and connections would help ensure that Government is not influenced by groups with potentially subversive agendas."
