The former White House chief strategist said Britain has a 'problem with radical Islam' which is 'getting worse'

Britain is headed for civil war because it has a "problem with radical Islam", an ally of Donald Trump has said.

Steve Bannon delivered his damning verdict at a conference of the National Conservatism movement in Washington on Thursday, where Nigel Farage was among the list of featured speakers.

He cited the conflict in Ukraine and said the world was in the "kinetic part" of World War Three.

"England is heading to a civil war as we speak and Nigel Farage, the rise of the populist party over there, Reform is not going to stop it," he said.

Mr Bannon referenced the rapid spread of Union Jack and St George's flags being displayed on Britain's streets thanks to the "Operation Raise the Colours" online movement.

"You see them putting these English flags up, the cross of St George that just occurred out of nowhere. It is heading there, he added.

"Why? They have a problem with radical Islam, that they have not dealt with and it is metastasising and getting worse and it is the same in France."

Mr Bannon was White House chief strategist during the first seven months of the Mr Trump's first administration.

He was influential in major decisions like the 2017 US withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement.

Mr Bannon added that the biggest existential threat to Israel did not come from Iran but instead from New York City, where could-be mayor Zohran Mamdani has been known to be critical of Israel.

If elected, he will make history as the first Muslim and Indian American mayor.

"The existential threat to Israel, the Jewish people is not in Tehran..the threat is right in New York City, Mr Bannon said.

“What has happened in London the last 10 years? Are people asleep? What has happened in Paris? What has happened in Brussels?

"What has happened to every country except for Hungary and Poland, the ones that said, ‘No, we’re not going to do this. We’re going to keep our culture.’ Look at Germany, it is all the same source."

He added that Britain was "heading to a very dark place".

He asked: "Do you think Sadiq Khan’s given back London? Are these guys giving back Paris? Are they giving back Brussels?"

"The English people know this. What do you think they are putting the flags up for?

“England is heading to a very dark place. You know why? You are going to have to head to a dark place to get your country back."

During a trip to Scotland to meet with Sir Keir Starmer in July, the US President blasted Mr Khan as a "nasty" person.

"I'm not a fan of your Mayor, Mr Trump said.

"I think he's done a terrible job, the Mayor of London. He's a nasty person."

The Prime Minister interjected: "He's actually a friend of mine."

Dismissing Sir Keir, the president continued: "No, I think he's done a terrible job but I would certainly visit London."
