The bombing will be part of defensive operations against Iranian missile sites

More American planes have touched down on RAF Fairford this afternoon in preparation for an upcoming missile blitz on Tehran.

Two US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemasters – both heavy transport planes – are believed to be transporting and carrying ammunition and equipment required for bombing runs on Iran.

The fleet will be accompanied by several US B-1 Lancer bombers after Sir Keir Starmer greenlit plans to allow the US use of British bases, including the Gloucestershire airbase and Diego Garcia.

The group will then be sent on a mission to launch "defensive" strikes against Iranian missile bases, while the Prime Minister has consistently vowed to not join offensive action.

Having just arrived, one of the C17 planes had come down from Prestwick, Glasgow, forced to divert as a result of foggy conditions earlier today.

A second C-17 landed from McGuire airbase over in New Jersey.

The two aircraft landing on British soil today followed the landing of the fleet of B1 bombers earlier on Sunday morning, as well as yesterday morning.

Reporting on the ground, National Reporter Jack Carson added: "It just shows you the steps that the United States are taking in Iran are not are not ceasing.

"They are not looking for negotiations or the diplomatic routers, as many in the United Kingdom's Government have suggested.

"They're continuing what what their plan was, which is what Donald Trump has said is his wish."

As the US ramps up its effort over in Britain, the UK is increasing its military capabilities in terms of its naval efforts, readying HMS Prince of Wales and deploying HMS Dragon to the eastern Mediterranean.

GB News understands HMS Prince of Wales could be deployed to the Middle East in the coming days. The Ministry of Defence has said it is constantly in a state of readiness to be deployed.

At Fairford, Jack commented: "It is in a sense, from the US point of view, almost a little bit too late."

Over the past 24 hours, Donald Trump has launched scathing criticism on Sir Keir Starmer, revealing last night the UK was "giving serious thought" to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East.

But Mr Trump said the US "don't need people" who join wars "after we've already won" in a harsh rebuke of the PM, who he previously branded a "loser with no future" just a few days ago.

Just a few hours later, Mr Trump doubled down on his extraordinary rebuke of the PM.

"We don't need them," he said aboard Air Force One over the weekend, referring to the British carriers, in what many construed as as a damning verdict on the future of the so-called "special relationship".

Joining Camilla this morning on the People's Channel, Foreign Minister Hamish Falconer insisted the Labour leader was "not humiliated" in the face of the presidential scrutiny.

Mr Falconer said there was "clearly a disagreement between our two countries".

He added: "That is part of a much wider, deeper relationship. So yes, I think there's no escaping the fact that there is a disagreement, but I don't think it's a humiliation to disagree, even with close ties.
