The venue decided to cancel as the comedian's views did not 'align' with its values

Graham Linehan and GB News' Andrew Doyle took their comedy show outside the Scottish Parliament after a second Edinburgh venue pulled out from hosting the event.

The creator of Father Ted was due to perform at Leith Arches but was cancelled over his outspoken trans views.

A second venue was later booked, however Doyle confirmed on social media that they too had pulled out.

The gig eventually went ahead outside Holyrood at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

Doyle wrote: "Our replacement venue for Comedy Unleashed at the Edinburgh fringe has now also cancelled on us.

"So @Glinner and the other acts will do the gig on a small stage outside the Scottish parliament at Holyrood at 7:30pm.

"This show is happening, whether these activists approve or not."

Organisers of the event, Comedy Unleashed, tried to move the show to another venue after Leith Arches said they made the decision to cancel the booking because Linehan’s views did not “align” with its values.

It said: “It was brought to our attention at the very last minute of the very controversial line-up.

“We work very closely with the LGBT+ community, it is a considerable part of our revenue, we believe hosting this one-off show would have a negative effect on future bookings.”

Leith Arches has previously said its decision to cancel Thursday’s booking was not due to activists.

The London-based Comedy Unleashed has been axed after complaints were made to chiefs.

Leith Arches said: “The decision was not influenced by the pressure of online activists, but by our regular community who use this space on a daily, weekly and [monthly] basis.”

Doyle set up Comedy Unleashed as a platform for comedians who had been cancelled for sharing their unwoke views.

The show has been forced to find an alternative venue for Linehan and his fellow comic Alistair Williams, Mary Bourke and Dominic Frisby.
