A 73-year-old pensioner has died after being punched in Cheltenham.
Jim Davis, described as caring and compassionate by his family, died on April 10 after being taken to hospital, Gloucestershire Police said.
He confronted two male teenagers on the city's Millennium Bridge - who had thrown a large branch at a cyclist at about 7.30pm on April 8.
Mr Davis then had an exchange with the two teenagers, with one of them punching him, police said.
In a statement, his family said: "We as a family are devastated by the loss of Jimmy. He was a friend to so many, but to me and my family he was a much-loved uncle, brother and brother-in-law.
"Jimmy was one of the kindest people anyone could have the pleasure of meeting, he was caring, compassionate, and always putting others first.
"He made sure no one around him ever felt alone, and his love of motorcycles brought him into contact with many people, forming friendships wherever he went.
"With a natural warmth and a gift for storytelling, he shared his life with great joy and, in doing so, touched a remarkable number of lives.

"Our lives will never be the same without him, and we know that many others will share in the sadness we feel."
The cyclist was unhurt as a result of the incident.
Both teenagers were then arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.
One of the teenagers, a 16-year-old, had no further action taken against him, while the other, 17, remains on police bail.
