GB News soars to become fastest-growing news app in the UK

The GB News app has become the fastest-growing news app in the UK, according to newly released data.

Figures from Ipsos iris for November reveal the app’s user base surged by an impressive 94 per cent year-on-year, making it the fastest-growing app across all UK media brands.

The data also shows the GB News app recorded more than 10 million minutes of usage during the month, equating to an average of 74 minutes per user.

Those using the app are watching live news, content on catch-up, accessing the latest GB News clips and being an active member of the GBN Community.

Month-on-month growth also stands at a remarkable 36 per cent, outperforming major competitors including Google News and The Guardian.

GB News Chief Content Officer Geoff Marsh said: “The past year has seen a huge increase in people turning to the GB News app and making it their home for the very best content.

“The app brings together everything GB News has to offer, allowing audiences to quickly access the bold and fearless journalism that defines the People’s Channel.

“It also enables viewers to enjoy GB News on the move and integrate it into their daily lives. We have a number of exciting developments planned in the months ahead that will make the app even better.”

The app’s success follows closely on the heels of GB News cementing its position as the UK’s number one news channel.

Latest BARB data shows the People’s Channel outperforming both Sky News and the BBC News Channel throughout December, having also led the market in July, August, September, October and November.

Between 6am and 2am last month, GB News achieved an average audience of 87.7k viewers, comfortably ahead of Sky News on 58.3k and the BBC News Channel on 74.5k.
