GB News has smashed through another major milestone, soaring past 10 million followers across social media - reinforcing its status as the UK’s fastest-growing online news brand.
The achievement caps a standout period of growth for the People’s Channel and comes just days after BARB data confirmed GB News had overtaken Sky News to become Britain’s number one commercial news channel in 2025, ending more than three decades of Sky dominance in the sector.
New figures reveal the pace and scale of GB News’ digital expansion. The channel now boasts more than three million followers on TikTok and over two million on YouTube, reflecting strong audience demand for its mix of news, debate and opinion-led programming.
And GB News’ reach continues to grow across the wider social media landscape too. More than 1.5 million users follow the channel on Facebook, while its number of Instagram followers has surpassed one million. On Truth Social, GB News has attracted over 900,000 followers, with a further 850,000-plus on X. Platforms including Threads, WhatsApp, Telegram and Bluesky now contribute a combined audience of close to 130,000 followers.
Commenting on the milestone, Geoff Marsh, Chief Content Officer at GB News, said: “Hitting 10 million followers is another remarkable landmark for the People’s Channel. It demonstrates, once again, the incredible pace at which we’ve grown and the strength of the connection we’ve built with audiences across the UK and beyond.
“What makes this achievement particularly significant is the breadth of platforms on which it has been delivered. GB News is being enjoyed across a wide range of social media environments, from long-form video to short-form clips and live debate, with millions making us their go-to destination for fearless and bold journalism.”
The digital milestone follows a major breakthrough in linear television performance. Latest BARB data shows that in 2025 GB News recorded average monthly viewing figures of 80,000, more than nine per cent higher than Sky News’ 74,000.
GB News is also on course to be Britain’s number one news channel for six consecutive months, having already topped the rankings in July, August, September, October and November, with early December figures indicating it will lead again.
Since January 1, GB News has outperformed Sky News on 223 of 350 days, accounting for 64 per cent of the year to date. The channel has also spent 48 days as the UK’s number one non-public service broadcasting (PSB) channel in 2025, compared with Sky News’ 16 days.
Viewer engagement continues to strengthen. Average time viewed (ATV) for GB News reached 94 hours in 2025, compared with 86 hours for Sky News, a difference of 12 per cent.
Growth is accelerating across both linear and digital platforms. GB News now reaches approximately 1.02 million viewers per day on linear television, representing a 19 per cent year-on-year increase.
In 2025, the channel generated around 2.6 billion video views and streams, up from approximately 0.8 billion in 2024, a 230 per cent increase, driven primarily by rapid expansion across TikTok, YouTube and connected TV platforms.
GB News has been the UK’s number one non-PSB channel for 45 days so far in 2025 and is now ranked among the top six non-PSB channels in the UK.
Mr Marsh added: “Our growth reflects a clear appetite for content that challenges the status quo, gives voice to opinions that are often underrepresented, and puts audiences first. Our social platforms allow us to meet viewers and listeners where they are, engage with them directly, and respond quickly to the stories that matter most to them.”
