The audience for GB News Radio has grown by 63 per cent in the past 12 months, according to official RAJAR ratings released today.

After just three years on air, GB News Radio now has a bigger audience than Times Radio.

The figures for the second quarter of this year show the station is now listened to by 518,000 people per week, which is a 63 per cent year-on-year increase.

In comparison, those tuning in to Times Radio dropped by 8.5 per cent to 478,000.

Total weekly listening hours topped 3.315 million in Q2, which is a 53 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, making GB News the UK’s fastest growing radio station.

The channel’s audience growth was ahead of other news channels including talkRADIO, LBC News UK, and Times Radio – all of whom posted single digit growth or lost listeners.

GB News Radio’s core programming also continues to show strong growth, with the Breakfast show - hosted by Eamonn Holmes, Isabel Webster, Stephen Dixon, Anne Diamond and Ellie Costello - up by 60 per cent year on year.

Britain’s Newsroom, presented each weekday morning by Andrew Pierce and Beverley Turner, has increased its audience by 89 per cent compared to 2023.

The audience of Good Afternoon Britain, fronted by Tom Harwood and Emily Carver, grew by 96 per cent year-on-year, while listeners to the Martin Daubney show were up by 99 per cent.

The figures also show that the station is proving to be hugely popular with commuters, with in-car listening up by 20 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 160 per cent year-on-year.

Over the last quarter, GB News Radio has increased female listeners by 44 per cent. It means 45 per cent of GB News Radio listeners are now women.

The ABC1 audience increase on the last quarter is 33 per cent, AB audiences by 52 per cent in a quarter and also up 76 per cent over 12 months.

The data shows that audiences in the 15-44 age range are up by 32 per cent in the last quarter and 90 per cent of GB News listeners are main shoppers.

The station also chalked up gains across digital platforms, with listening on DAB radio up 72 per cent year-on-year, smart speaker audiences up by 106 per cent, and internet streaming up by 41 per cent.

GB News continues to heavily invest in technology and sports news bulletins on GB News Radio are now powered by AI.

The content is delivered using the virtual voice of GB News anchor Tatiana Sanchez and the bulletins are created using AI summaries from the latest sports stories on the channel’s website.

Updates are provided on the hour and half-hour from 6.30am to 11.30pm every day after the main news summary.

GB News’ Commercial Director Nicole O’Shea said: “These figures underline the strong continued growth of GB News Radio across the United Kingdom. To do this in the space of just three years is a great achievement and we’re now reaching more listeners than ever all over the UK.

“Overtaking Times Radio is a milestone moment for GB News but our aim is to build on this success and to reach out and connect with an even larger audience.”
