The 24-year-old man tried to board the flight bound for Palma de Mallorca

A man attempted to sneak onto a Tui flight with no boarding pass or passport in a major security breach at Gatwick Airport.

William Jonzi tried to board the flight bound for Palma de Mallorca at 6am last Wednesday morning.

Jonzi, 24, tailgated a customer through e-gates at the London airport and successfully got through security and the boarding gate, despite having no documentation.

Upon arriving at the plane, Jonzi was confronted by cabin crew about his lack of a boarding pass.

When confronted, Jonzi swiftly “snapped” and “went berserk”, terrifying holiday goers.

The cabin crew had to hold Jonzi on the jet until police officers could arrive on the scene and detain the perpetrator.

Jimmy McBride, who was boarding the same flight, told The Sun he grabbed Jonzi and forced him to the ground in front of terrified passengers after spotting him acting irrationally.

McBride said he felt “something was off” as Jonzi barrelled towards the flight shouting: “I’ve got to get on the plane”.

The father from Sussex said: “He tried to come on with another woman and pretended her pram was his.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

“The cabin crew had told him he wasn’t coming on the flight. When he tried to get on, they told him, ‘Sir, we’ve told you, you can’t come on.’

“I grabbed him as he got two feet on the plane. He was trying to get on and get towards the passengers.”

Another passenger Dayna White was also confronted by Jonzi.

The mum said: “It was a bit concerning.

"It’s my first holiday with my child, so it wasn’t a good experience.

“We’re going to put a complaint in. He had been loitering around, so it’s hardly as if it was a shock that he’d try to get on that plane.”

The flight, which was originally meant to depart at 6am, was delayed by two hours and 20 minutes.

Jonzi, of Croydon, South London, appeared at Crawley magistrates’ court last Thursday and pleaded guilty to entering the protected security area of an airport without permission.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £89 in costs and surcharges.
