The oldest Beckham son has been estranged from his family for nearly a year

Brooklyn Beckham is set to miss his father's Hollywood milestone, despite living nearby, as the family rift continues.

Sir David Beckham is being honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, marking the 2,849th addition to the famous boulevard.

The 50-year-old former England captain will be recognised for his significant impact across sport, entertainment and global culture in what is expected to be a deeply moving ceremony.

Victoria Beckham will stand alongside her husband for the occasion, with a source telling Metro that her speech is "incredibly moving."

Hollywood star Tom Cruise, a close friend of the Beckhams, will also be present to pay tribute to Sir David's remarkable career.

"David can't wait for his star unveiling ceremony," the source said. "His close friend Tom Cruise will also honour his career, which will be a huge moment for him."

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, one notable family member will not be in attendance.

Brooklyn Beckham, Sir David's eldest son, is expected to skip the ceremony even though he resides less than 20 minutes from the venue.

The 27-year-old lives in Los Angeles with his wife Nicola Peltz in a $16million four-bedroom property in the exclusive Trousdale Estates neighbourhood above Beverly Hills.

According to a source speaking to Metro: "Brooklyn lives less than 20 minutes away from where the ceremony will be, but won't be attending. It wouldn't be the right time or place for a family reunion after everything that's happened between them."

The absence comes amid an ongoing and very public estrangement between Brooklyn and his parents that erupted dramatically earlier this year.

The family rift became public in January when Brooklyn issued an explosive statement on social media, breaking years of silence.

In his lengthy declaration, he accused his parents of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding" and claimed they had "controlled narratives in the press" about the family throughout his life.

"I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," Brooklyn stated.

He was unequivocal about his intentions going forward, declaring: "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life."

Brooklyn described the family's public image as a façade, stating: "The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into."

Lady Victoria responded to her son's accusations in an interview with the Wall Street Journal in April, defending their approach to parenting.

"I think that we've always – we love our children so much," she said. "We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children."

The tensions had been building for some time, with Brooklyn and Nicola conspicuously missing from significant family occasions including Sir David's 50th birthday celebrations and his knighthood ceremony.
