Around 100 firefighters have been called to tackle a large blaze at a shop in south east London.

Fire crews rushed to Perry Vale in Forest Hill at about 6.30pm.

The blaze broke out at a ground-floor shop which has flats located above it.

About 15 people were evacuated from surrounding buildings, London Fire Brigade said.

The fire affected the ground, first and second floors of the building.

The fire brigade said in a statement: "As of 9.45pm, part of the ground floor shop remains alight, as well as part of the first and second floors.

"A single-storey workshop to the rear of the shop also remains partially alight."

Station Commander Anthony Lewis, who is at the scene, said crews were set to be "working through the night to fully extinguish this fire".
