Healthy food applications are “rarer the further north you come”, according to a fitness trainer.
Frankie Clarke also believes more needs to be done to educate children about the importance of food.
Her comments come as obesity continues to be a growing issue across the UK.
NHS figures for England show that the majority of adults in England in 2018 – the most recent data available – were overweight or obese (63 percent).

Speaking on GB News’ Brazier, Ms Clarke said: “I think it comes down to convenience, the life that we live now and the industries that we are in and just the global way that we work, everything has to be convenient.
“Something I stress to all of my clients who I work very closely with is meal prepping, you have things in the fringe available on hand so that is your convenience food.
“I do think there’s a certain extent where you do have to look after yourself.”
She added: “I know quite a few of my friends at school did home tech or some kind of education, at the school I went to I did cooking for one year when was about 12 years old and it was baking cakes.
“I was never taught about what I actually needed to survive, what my body needs, how to feed my brain, how to structure my day and I think that needs to be addressed.
“A lot of the time I think these apps can be great, you can find healthier choices in places like London, but as you come further up north, they become a lot rarer and you do start to get more unhealthy or less nutritious foods available.”
