Police in Ireland are investigating an incident of “attempted criminal damage” at a pub owned by Irish UFC star Conor McGregor, after two petrol bombs were thrown at the property.
The Black Forge Inn in Drimnagh Road, Dublin, which was bought by the former UFC champion for £2 million, was attacked on Wednesday night.
No damage was done.
The former UFC champion, 33, was in the venue which hosts a restaurant and a pub, earlier on Wednesday, according to social media posts.
A witness told Dublin Live they saw “two men on a scooter” heading towards the pub moments before the alleged attempted bombing,
They said: "There was two people allegedly spotted on scooters who passed the establishment at the time and next thing they were being chased by two others who had come out of the property.
"McGregor had been holding a taste testing menu in the pub so the alleged attackers may have assumed he was inside."
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
“Gardai are particularly keen for anyone with camera footage from the area overnight to make this available to them,” the force said in a statement.
It is the second time McGregor has faced confrontation at one of his venues, after he assaulted a man in The Marble Arch in Drimnagh.
The mixed martial arts fighter was fined 1,000 euro (£861) after he pleaded guilty to punching the man.
McGregor apologised to his victim and paid him compensation, however the amount was not disclosed to the court.
