Former leader of the Green Party, Caroline Lucas, attacked the Prime Minister in the House of Commons following the release of the Sue Gray report into Downing Street parties during lockdown.
The MP for Brighton Pavilion told the chamber: "The shocking incompetence of the Met Police has meant that we have a report that has been gutted.
"We didn’t need Sue Gray to tell us the level of dishonour and deception that has infected not only Downing Street but so many in the Party opposite.
She went on: "It has been excruciating to watch so many Tory MPs and ministers willing to defend the indefensible, calculating what’s in their own party political interests rather than what’s right for our country.
"The Prime Minister is certainly a bad apple, but the whole tree is rotten and the whole country wants reform."
The Sue Gray report did not name any officials or staff that were alleged to attend parties in No 10, but it did say there had been 'serious failures' and that changes needed to be introduced before the conclusion of the Met Police investigation.
12 events are currently being investigated by the Met.
The Sue Gray report suggests one of these parties is the PM's alleged birthday party in Downing Street, in which there was allegedly a birthday cake. At the time of Boris Johnson's birthday in 2020, the country was locked down.
