A two-year-old British boy is believed to have become the youngest person to reach Everest base camp.
Carter Dallas, accompanied by his parents Ross and Jade, “climbed” to the south site in Nepal, located 17,598ft above sea level.
The trio from Glasgow completed the trek on October 25, a highlight of their ongoing year-long trip around Asia, which they claimed is “way better than going to Tenerife”.
The two-year-old achieved the impressive feat whilst on the back of his father.

Carter has taken the record from a four-year-old from the Czech Republic, who is understood to have held the title previously.
Ross Dallas, a former sales manager, said: “Carter coped better than me and his Mum. We both got slight altitude sickness but he was absolutely fine.
“There were two medics at the villages before base camp and they tested his blood to check he was fine, his results were way better than ours – they were amazed!”
He said that the trek was essentially done “on a whim”, bringing with them only food, jackets, and sleeping bags. They did not wear specialist shoes, instead completing the journey in just their normal trainers.

The family embarked on the trek less than a day after landing in Kathmandu.
Reaching the base camp at Everest is no easy feat – around three to five people die each year while trying to complete the challenge.
In 2017, an 85-year-old veteran died whilst trying to reclaim his title as the oldest person to summit the mountain. Min Bahadur Serchan, a former British Gurka soldier, reportedly suffered a heart attack whilst at the site.

Since buying their one-way tickets and departing the UK, the family have visited multiple exotic destinations including Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, India and Singapore.
They are currently in Thailand, having spent their New Year's on the island of Koh Lanta and are now on a jungle expedition on Khao Sok.
Ross Dallas said that his son is loving the trip: “We love that he has been exposed to different cultures and has been playing with all the kids in small villages, it's really opening his mind up.
“The one thing he's loved the most is hearing the Islamic call to prayer!
“We hope we can inspire other people to go out and see the real world. It’s way better than just going to Tenerife.”
