Scarlett Jenkinson had been expelled from 'several' schools by the time she joined Birchwood Community High in Warrington, Cheshire

Brianna Ghey's killer was expelled from her previous school after allegedly trying to "poison" a fellow pupil with drugs.

Scarlett Jenkinson was named earlier today as Girl X, responsible for the horrific killing of Brianna Ghey in February last year.

Jenkinson was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 22 years.

It has since been revealed that she had been expelled from a number of schools by the time she joined Birchwood Community High in Warrington, Cheshire.

Police Handout

According to the Daily Mail, the reason behind being expelled from her most recent school - Culcheth High - was due to an attempt to poison a fellow pupil with cannabis 'gummies' which made her ill in October 2022.

The girl was unaware that the sweets were spiked with marijuana and became serious unwell, having to go to A&E after Jenkinson persuaded her to take two.

Jenkinson was then excluded and moved to Birchwood High, which is where she met Brianna in the "inclusion unit", where vulnerable and troubled pupils are taught away from mainstream lessons.

Brianna was in the unit because of her anxiety struggles, while Jenkinson was a part of it because of her exclusion.

It had been claimed that Birchwood High were unaware of the extent of Jenkinson's bahaviour prior to joining the school.

They were unaware of the fact that the pupil affected did not know what sweets she was taking, that she became unwell following the event and that the police had been called as a result.

The school's headteacher, Emma Mills, said: "If anything came up where we thought that it would be a danger in any way, then you can simply refuse.

"In Scarlett's case there was nothing that raised a concern in terms of the information that we were given."

The father of another pupil at Culcheth High stated his daughter was lucky to be alive after she refused to take the spiked sweets from Jenkinson.

He said: "There was a massive incident at the high school and Scarlett Jenkinson got expelled.

"Listening to the murder trial has been absolutely horrific.

"When she tried to poison my daughter I thought I was overreacting thinking it was attempted murder - you never think a child of 15 would want to do that to another kid.

"She tried to give two to my daughter, but she didn't take them, one of the other girls in the library did. She ended up in A&E."
