Brianna Ghey was murdered by Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe last February

Former Metropolitan Police Detective Peter Bleksley has slammed killers Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, as they were given their prison sentences for killing transgender teenager Brianna Ghey.

In February 2023, 16-year-old Brianna was lured to a park near her home in Warrington by Jenkinson and Ratcliffe, and was killed by the pair.

After being named for the first time today ahead of their sentencing, 16-year-olds Jenkinson and Ratcliffe were told by judge that the murder they carried out was "brutal" and "sadistic".

The killers' identities had previously been known as 'Girl X' and 'Boy Y' up until their trial in December 2023.

Mrs Justice Yip offered her "deepest sympathy" Brianna Ghey's family, as she outlined horrifying details about the "disturbing" premeditated attack.

Yip confirmed Brianna had suffered 28 stab wounds to her head, chest and back, and wounds to the arms show she had "tried to defend herself".

Jenkinson, currently held in Adel Beck secure children’s home in Leeds, was given a minimum term of 22 years before parole by trial.

Ratcliffe, currently at Barton Moss secure children’s home in Salford, was given a minimum of 20 years before parole.

Speaking to GB News, Bleksley slammed the "vile" murderers of Brianna and said the details of how the horrific killing was carried out are "astonishing".

Bleksley told host Martin Daubney: "It is so astonishing, so brutal, and so vile. My thoughts go out to everyone who knew and loved Brianna, and I think Mrs Justice Yip, in her calm and measured way, has handed down the sentences that are appropriate.

"But they will of course only ever be released if there is a huge amount of rehabilitation work done in the next two decades."

Bleksley highlighted that Scarlett Jenkinson had also expressed a desire to "kill again" and "collect body parts", as stated in the sentencing by Yip, and the pair had "lied and lied and lied again, almost to the point where it is indecipherable whether either of them were telling the truth or not".

Agreeing with the sentencings of both Jenkinson and Ratcliffe, the Former Met Police Detective warned that those representing the teenagers may seek to appeal the sentences.

Bleksley revealed: "I think that the judge has handed down as stern a sentence as she possibly could within the guidelines and in order to prevent some future appeal.

"Although their legal teams will undoubtedly, I suspect, try and look at the sentencing to see if there is any possible way they can appeal.

"That, of course, would bring on more hurt, more upset for Brianna's family. And it is her family who will now serve the whole life term, because that sense of loss will simply never go away."
