The former Labour London Mayor grilled Boris Johnson and his achievements as London Mayor and Prime Minister in a debate on whether Sadiq Khan was the worst London Mayor of all time.

Former London Mayor Ken Livingston has called Boris Johnson's Government "the most incompetent government of my lifetime".

The former Labour London Mayor grilled Boris Johnson and his achievements as London Mayor and Prime Minister on The Clash with Dan Wootton during a debate on whether Sadiq Khan is the worst London Mayor of all time.

Speaking exclusively on GB News, Livingston said: "Look, in that 8 years Boris was Mayor what did he do? The only thing he really did was he built the cable car to nowhere."

Talking on The Clash, Livingston continued: "He did very little [as London Mayor] and that's exactly what he's doing as Prime Minister, this is the most incompetent government of my lifetime."

Livingston justified his answer by stating that Sadiq Khan has had a more difficult job as London Mayor because of cuts in funding.

"He hasn’t had the funding from Government that I was able to get. This last 12 years we’ve seen the biggest clampdown on local Government spending of my lifetime, there’s been nothing as bad as this.

"This Government has made cuts in local Government spending that even Thatcher didn’t do" said the former Mayor.

This grilling comes as calls from the Tory benches for Boris Johnson to quit have grown steadily in recent weeks.

A further three Conservative MPs on Wednesday called for the Prime Minister to stand aside, coming after a truncated report by Sue Gray, the senior civil servant investigating allegations of lockdown-busting parties in Downing Street, was published on Monday.

Out of the 16 events Ms Gray looked into, 12 are subject to a Metropolitan Police investigation, with Mr Johnson reportedly attending as many as six of those possible gatherings being probed by officers.

As details have emerged, a host of the Tory rebels have confirmed they have submitted letters of no confidence in Mr Johnson’s leadership, while other critics have kept their counsel over whether they want a vote on the future of his tenure.
