He has been left with only the clothes on his back, adding he was left with a 'broken heart'

An Indian motorcyclist who was passing through Britain on a 15,000-mile round-the-world challenge has been left with a "broken heart" after his bike was stolen while travelling through the country.

Yogesh Alekari had passed through more than 17 countries across Asia and Europe after departing Mumbai on his challenge on May 1.

The 33-year-old said his KTM 390 Adventure motorbike was stolen while parked at Wollaton Park in Nottingham at around 11am on Thursday.

Mr Alekari also said some of his belongings were taken as well.

He has been documenting his journey across social media to thousands of his followers and said the bike theft was "painful" and left him with a "broken heart".

Mr Alekari's journey from Mumbai has seen him travel through Iran, Nepal, China, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, before moving on to Europe in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.

The Indian national said he had planned to continue his journey through Africa next, however, he was now stranded with only the clothes on his back.

Mr Alekari told the BBC he was figuring out his next steps.

"I was in Nottingham for a biker event and was about to head to Oxford," Mr Alekari said.

"I stopped and parked my bike at Wollaton Park."

He said that he had "locked the bike up" in a busy area with children playing, thinking it was "a safe place".

"I crossed the road and went to have breakfast but within an hour, I came back and everything was just gone," Mr Alekari added.

Video footage from a visitor at the park showed the motorcycle being ridden away along with two moped scooters either side.

Mr Alekari is a full-time content creator with more than 180,000 Instagram followers and almost 16,000 on Facebook.

He said the value of his stolen belongings was more than £15,000.

The man said his MacBook laptop, a spare mobile phone, two cameras, cash and other items, like his passport and clothing were taken.

Mr Alekari said he was "totally shocked" and that he "just broke down and started crying when I realised what had happened".

"They stole my motorcycle but this wasn't only a motorbike - it was my home, it was my dream, it was my everything as a traveller," he said.

"How can this happen? Suddenly I've lost everything."

Mr Alekari said he called the police not long after the bike was stolen, although he added that no officer was able to attend the park, which Nottingham City Council controls.

"I wanted to go from Spain to Morocco, and then to the western coast of Africa, Cape Town to Kenya and then fly back to India," the man said.

"My dream is to ride around the world on a motorcycle. I spent a lot of money to get here and I don't want to stop now.

"I have travelled from India to here and I went through places like Iran and Turkey, which people said weren't safe - but I felt safe there."

Nottinghamshire Police told the BBC that it had been conducting "local inquiries" but had so far not been able to locate the bike.

GB News has contacted Nottingham City Council for comment.
