A teenage boy has died and two others sustained serious injuries following a hit-and-run collision in Flitwick, Bedfordshire late on Friday evening.
Bedfordshire Police received reports at 11.50pm that a vehicle had struck three teenage boys on Greenfield Road, Flitwick, two of whom were travelling on a bicycle, while the third was riding a scooter.
One of the boys was declared dead at the scene, whilst his two friends were rushed to hospital with significant injuries.
The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene, though officers subsequently discovered a blue BMW bearing substantial damage abandoned on a street nearby.

Two individuals, a man and woman both aged in their twenties, have since been taken into custody by police.
The pair face suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as operating a vehicle whilst exceeding the legal alcohol limit and driving with a controlled substance above the specified threshold in their system.
The arrests follow what investigators are treating as a serious road traffic incident, with the suspects believed to have been in the BMW that struck the three teenagers before abandoning the vehicle.

Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire serious collision investigation unit are now leading the inquiry.
Detective Sergeant Shona Searle, from the joint serious collision investigation unit, said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the boy who has lost his life in this incident, as well as the families of the two other boys who were injured.
"We are currently following several lines of inquiry to establish the circumstances around the collision, and are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage, doorbell footage or CCTV to get in touch as soon as possible".
