An expert on the popular BBC antique show Bargain Hunt has been charged with assault.
Charles Hanson, who appears on the programme as an advisor to the teams, is set to appear in court next month over an allegation of assault following a “domestic incident”.
He is understood to deny the charges and formal pleas will be taken at a hearing in January.
The 45-year-old was charged on December 14 with seven offences, including two of assault causing actual bodily harm, one of controlling and coercive behaviour and two counts of assault by beating.

He was released on police bail ahead of a further court appearance at court in Derbyshire in January.
A spokesperson from Derbyshire Police told The Telegraph it was “called to reports of a domestic incident at an address in the Amber Valley region of Derbyshire in June.
“A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on police bail while enquiries continued.
“On December 14, Charles Hanson was charged with seven alleged offences.

“The 45-year-old was released on police bail to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on January 10.”
Hanson first appeared on Bargain Hunt in 2002 at the age of 25.
At the time of first appearing on the show, he was the youngest expert on the team. He has since appeared regularly on Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.
Hanson later formed an auctioneering business in Etwall, Derbyshire in 2005 and then launched Hansons London in 2018.
He met his wife Rebecca Ludlam, 40, a diagnostic radiographer, in 2008.
They married two years later at All Saints Church in Mackworth, in front of 150 close friends and family members.
