At least six people have died after a gunman opened fire at a food market in Bangkok, Thai police have said.
The shooting took place at the Or Tor Kor market, which is known for selling fresh produce.
Police officials say the gunman took his own life and officers are investigating the attack.
“Police are investigating the motive. So far it’s a mass shooting,” Worapat Sukthai, deputy police chief of Bangkok’s Bang Sue district, said.

Thai Police said the five people killed by the gunman were security guards at the market.

It is not the first time a shooting has occurred in the Thai capital.
In October, 2023, a 14-year-old boy was arrested after two people were killed at the Siam Paragon mall.
The latest incident comes as tensions continue between Thailand and Cambodia.

The neighbouring countries have disputed sovereignty over parts of their shared border for over a hundred years.
It has led to skirmishes and at least a dozen deaths, including during a weeklong exchange of artillery in 2011.
Tensions were reignited in May following the killing of a Cambodian soldier during a brief exchange of gunfire, which escalated into a full-blown diplomatic crisis.
Thailand's military said last week it had deployed an F-16 fighter jet for action against Cambodia, with another five being readied, after days of soaring tensions.
It followed a landmine incident which saw five Thai soldiers injured near the border. Both nations have accused each other for starting the conflict.More From GB News
