Vicki Michelle told Dan Wootton how Britain needs its sense of humour back

An Allo Allo star has hit out at the show being given a content warning for French and German stereotypes.

The British comedy centred on a French cafe owner was a smash hit in in the 80s and early 90s.

But anyone trying to watch it now will see an offensive content label.

Vicki Michelle, who played waitress Yvette Carte-Blanche, told GB News how modern comedies should be more like the classics.

She also hit out at content warnings on classic comedies such as Allo Allo, Dad's Army, and Fawlty Towers.

She told Dan Wootton Tonight: "It's history, this was how it was, you can't change it and you can't say that it didn't happen."

She added: "You can't erase social history, it's like people that are upset about the statues.

"If you erase the history then they'll have nothing to moan about.

"The old school makes you laugh out loud and this country needs it sense of humour back.

"This country wants to laugh and it wants to smile."

Ms Michelle added how Allo Allo was a family comedy and contained jokes for all ages.

She also said: "People grew up with this and it was the double entendres, the kids didn't get the rude bits but the grown-ups did and it made a fond memory for your childhood."
