Wilko has launched six options in the kitchen collection

Wilko has today launched its own collection of self-assembly kitchens.

The retailer said it hopes it will help homeowners cut the cost of designing and installing their dream kitchen.

The collection of kitchens, which can be customised, come in six distinct styles.

Wilko said the collection offers cost-conscious consumers a quick, easy and affordable way to upgrade their kitchen.

The range promises quick assembly, thanks to features including pre-inserted cams and dowels.

The brand said it means customers shouldn't need to hire an expensive fitter and should be a relatively simple process without the need for time-consuming construction or tracking down tiny pieces.

Between today and May 25, Wilko is offering up to 15 per cent off its kitchen furniture, worktops, sinks and taps.

Last week, Wilko announced the relaunch of its free click and collect service.

Customers can now order Wilko products online and collect them just two hours later from one of the 217 UK collection points, provided it's within store opening times.

They can choose from the reopened Wilko stores and more than 200 collection points at Wilko's sister brand The Range.

Wilko reopened five stores under new ownership in recent months, after all 400 stores were forced to close.

There are now Wilko stores in Exeter, Luton, Plymouth, St Albans and Rotherham, ahead of a wider roll-out.

The Range owner CDS Superstores bought the Wilko brand, intellectual property and website last autumn.

Announcing the new stores last year, CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as The Range and Wilko, Alex Simpkin said: “For the majority of its 93 years, Wilko was an incredibly successful business that gave its customers exactly what they needed to get their home and garden jobs sorted.

"It was their advanced own-brand capabilities that encouraged us to invest in the brand and wilko.com and, we’re excited to now be selling Wilko products online once more and across our 200 stores network.”

"The public reaction to the loss of Wilko stores was undeniable. It’s clear that there’s a huge love for Wilko and we’ve seen an encouraging demand for the return of its own-brand products.

"That’s why we’ve taken the decision to reintroduce Wilko back to many of the high streets and communities that it used to so proudly serve.

“Our team from Wilko that joined us through the acquisition has shown true resilience, they’ve set to work to integrate the best parts of Wilko into The Range’s operational systems.

"We’re expanding that team everyday with new Wilko hires and can’t wait to extend that back out to local communities.

“We’ll endeavour to give ex-Wilko employees priority as a part of the recruitment process for the new stores.”
