The Post Office has announced a major change to its services, which will impact 4,000 of its branches "and beyond" thanks to a brand new deal.
An exclusive long-term agreement signed by the postal service company will see Western Union become the sole provider of international money transfer services across thousands of locations.
The partnership, announced today, represents a significant expansion of their existing relationship and will extend Western Union's presence beyond the current 4,000 Post Office locations where its services are available.
This deal aims to provide customers with more convenient access to cross-border money transfers from thousands of locations throughout the UK, whilst delivering enhanced commercial benefits for postmasters and strategic partners.

PAWestern Union's services enable customers to send money to more than 200 countries and other territories worldwide.
Recipients can access funds through billions of bank accounts, millions of digital wallets and cards, and hundreds of thousands of retail locations globally.
The partnership leverages Post Office branches as trusted community locations where customers can complete international money transfers with the reassurance of face-to-face service when sending or receiving funds from overseas.
Furthermore, the agreement includes enhanced financial incentives for postmasters and strategic partners, who will receive increased payments for each Western Union transaction processed in their branches.

The postal service company broke down how customers and postmasters will benefit from the deal
POST OFFICENotably, this builds upon the uplift already introduced in October 2024 awarded to postmasters.
Both companies have pledged additional marketing investment as part of the partnership.
This will include opportunities for bespoke signage in branches and dual-branded marketing campaigns to promote the service.
The commercial benefits are designed to support increased footfall in Post Office branches whilst improving service opportunities.
