The Labour Government's change to the eligibility rules for Winter Fuel Payments are now coming into effect after the widespread backlash to the reforms introduced last year.
Ministers rowed back their decision to means-test the up to £300 energy bill benefit, which would have seen the support reserved for the poorest pensioners in Britain, with those now earning £35,000 or less to remain eligible.
Many pensioners are now to checking to see if they will still qualify for Winter Fuel Payments with the new rules in place.
