Octopus Energy is encouraging people to “spread the word” as customers could get money off their energy bills this evening, just two days after a Savings Session on Tuesday between 5 and 6pm.
Via the Savings Session scheme, which is the supplier’s version of the National Grid ESO’s Demand Flexibility Scheme, participants could earn money if they reduce their energy usage during the period.
There is only a short amount of time left to sign up for the event which takes place between 5pm and 6pm tonight.
Octopus Energy said due to this being a “surprise session” and therefore announced at short notice, there isn’t always time to email or notify customers via the app.
Octopus Energy posted another 'suprise session' alert on X/Twitter today, days after another event took place

Participants can earn up to 1,800 Octopoints (worth £2.25) per kWh saved versus normal usage.
They can get 200 bonus points just for opting in.
Savings Sessions participants need to opt in each time either via their app or dashboard in order to take part in a session and earn Octopoints.
Responding to the alert on social media, one customer wrote: "I'm in. I've set [Amazon] Alexa to remind me."
Another penned: "Opted in! Ready for more savings."
Explaining how Surprise Sessions work, Octopus Energy said: “In these select Sessions, there'll be shorter notice, no notifications - and sometimes, higher rewards.
“You may only get a few hours to opt in before the Session starts. We won't have time to notify you as normal, but we'll send up the octopus signal on social media and WhatsApp.”
After the event ends, the supplier will look at participants’ smart meter readings to work out how much power they saved.
The earnings will then be added to the person’s Octoplus account “within a few weeks”.

Customers can choose how they want to redeem their Octopoints on the Octoplus page, and see how much they are worth in pounds.
One of the options is to turn it into account credit, which would see Octopus Energy add the credit to the person’s energy account.
Equitwatt is also offering people the opportunity to earn points if they consume less electricity tonight.
People can opt into its powerDOWN event, which is also taking place tonight from 5pm until 6pm.
