New Government scheme to save THOUSANDS of homes over £300 a year on bills: Find out if you're eligible

Thousands of households across Britain could be saving over £300 a year on their bills thanks to a new scheme introduced by the Government.

The Eco+ scheme is set to give homes in England, Wales and Scotland insulation in an attempt to reduce heat wastage.

The scheme, worth £1billion, will result in homes with an Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) rating of D or below offered help, along with other vulnerable households.

Households able to apply for the scheme will surpass 400,000.

It is set to run from spring 2023 for up to three years, and will be put out alongside an £18million public information campaign to offer pointers to households on how to save on their bills.

Households in lower council tax bands and those with an EPC rating of D or below are set to benefit, with the Government saying around 80% of the Eco+ scheme funding will go to people in these categories.

If you’re in a home between council tax bands A to D in England, you will be offered the home insulation.

Tax bands between A to E in Scotland will also receive the offer, as will those who fall between A to C in Wales.

The Eco+ scheme will be open to households on a low income and those in a general group.

Those living in a household with an EPC rating band D to G will encompass the low income group.

Those within this group must also be receiving a means-tested benefit, while living in social housing with poor energy efficiency or be referred by their local council as they’re considered to be living in fuel poverty.

The general group, however, includes all homes in council tax bands A to D in England, A to E in Scotland and A to C in Wales.

80% of the scheme’s funding will go to those in the general group.

This means many of this group will receive £2,000 grants.

This proposed help, however, will only be available depending on varying circumstances, therefore some people will gain more and some less.
