Chancellor Rachel Reeves is under pressure over what tax changes will be announced in her Autumn Budget later this year, with analysts warning a potential HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) raid is on the cards to plug an estimated £30billion "black hole" in the public finances.
Ahead of her speech at today's Labour Party Conference, the Chancellor reiterated her commitment to previous manifesto, which included not raising taxes on "working people".
However, when quizzed about whether VAT will be hiked in her fiscal statement, Ms Reeves sidestepped the question and said she did not want to over manifesto pledges "line by line".
