Energy bills could be slashed thanks to the latest deal from British Gas

UK households have the opportunity to save on energy bills this week thanks to a scheme being implemented by one of the country's biggest suppliers.

British Gas is offering half-price electricity tomorrow, however this deal is reserved for PeakSave customers during a two-hour window.


The energy firm's PeakSave customers can enjoy half-price electricity tomorrow (Thursday, May 15) between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

This special two-hour window allows customers to save money on energy-intensive tasks like mowing lawns or washing clothes.

The discount comes as part of a Green Flex event, triggered by forecasted windy and sunny conditions producing abundant renewable energy.

Around one million Brits have PeakSave accounts are expected to benefit from this offer, which could see households make decent savings.

Eligible customers will receive an email invitation to opt in to the event. British Gas uses its own forecasting to determine when these Green Flex events occur, testing potential savings and grid impact.

After each event, customers receive half of what they spent credited back to their account, appearing as "PeakSave Green Flex Credit" on their next bill.

New rule sees British Gas, EDF, EOn and OVO to pay customers £30 after switching delay

This credit normally appears within two weeks of the event ending. The discount is available to both new and existing PeakSave customers.

PeakSave customers also benefit from half-price electricity every Sunday between 11am and 4pm, with no need to opt in.

As it stands, British Gas has already paid over £20million to more than 900,000 participants of the PeakSave initiative.

Many other energy suppliers in the UK are offering similar concessions to customers, which Britons are being urged to take advantage of.

Eon's referral scheme offers a £50 discount to customers switching from rivals like British Gas, Octopus, EDF and OVO.

The offer requires being referred by a family member or friend who is an existing Eon customer.

Both the new customer and the person referring them receive the £50 credit on their energy bills.

Eon states: "Refer a friend. Earn £50. Repeat. Through your online account, you can refer as many friends as you want to sign up with us for their electricity and gas."

The £50 Eon discount allows households to save money that can be spent on other necessities.

Existing Eon customers can refer multiple friends, potentially earning several £50 credits.
