Costa Coffee has confirmed the closure of another one of its stores in blow to local customers.
The coffee chain has shut down numerous stores in recent months with the brand’s branch in Rhyl, North Wales being the latest casualty.
This wave of store closures to Britain’s high streets comes amid changes to consumer habits and a competitive market.
Costa pointed out the nearby drive thru site at the Marina in Rhyl remains open.
All employees at the High Street site have been relocated.
A Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our Rhyl High Street Costa Coffee store has closed its doors for trade.

There remains over 2,400 Costa Coffee sites operating in the UK.

- Packhorse Road, Buckinghamshire - January 10
- King Street, Maidstone, Kent - January 20
- Chiswick High Road, London - February 6
- Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh - February 14.
This comes after a wave of store closures from the coffee chain in 2023 which left customers having to visit other branches.These include:
- Coliseum retail park in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire - June 3
- Welch Way, Witney - June 5,
- Wigan town centre - June 25
- Five Rise Shopping Centre, Bingley - July 9
- High Street, Worcester - July (relocated to new site for September 15)
- Lowestoft's North Quay retail park - July 23 (closed for refurbishment)
- Church Street, Oakham - September 15.
Market analysis from PWC revealed there were around 14 store closures everyday in 2023 with 5,000 fewer shops trading as a result.
Some 39 chain brands shut down daily on average, with 25 new sites opening, resulting in 5,000 fewer stores trading compared to the year before.

PwC’s report stated: “In H1 we saw a big recovery in food-to-go, supermarkets and coffee shops, all benefiting out of town locations such as drive-throughs, motorway service areas, inside supermarkets and petrol forecourts, as well as on retail parks.
“Takeaways and cafes have been boosted by franchises - ranging from pizza delivery to fried chicken and even bubble tea - which are agile, and able to open and expand rapidly.”
